| The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) accredits Fannin County Middle and High Schools. All schools in Fannin County are accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission (GAC). SACS describes accreditation as a desirable overall level of education provided to students by capable administrators and qualified teachers who are adequately supported by a community concerned about the future of their children. |
| Within the last three years, all elementary schools have been completely renovated and new additions constructed. Fannin County Middle School was constructed in 1991-92 and opened in the fall of 1992. |
| The 1998-99 school budget is $17,000,000 and the expenditure per pupil is $4,800.75. The Fannin County school tax rate is 11.90 mills per $1,000 dollars. The State requires all systems to levy at least 5 mills and additional 3 mills are required for school systems to fully participate in the allocation of state and federal funds. |
| These include: marching band, FFA, FHA, academic bowl, VICA, VOCA, literary events, Student Council, Key Club, FBLA, Nation Honor Society, FCA, and Tri-Hi-Y. Interscholastic athletics include: girls and boys basketball, girls and boys track, golf, girls softball, cheer leading, football, baseball, wrestling, and cross country. |
